A decade past

We commemorate this year not as a summit but as a milestone worth of celebration. As we close the first chapter and open the next, we remain committed to our founding principles and gear up for greater things ahead. We've come a long way from our humble beginnings running the business from a couch in our living room. Now, we're a sophisticated twenty-first century contractor with an ever-growing and talented team.

Our industry is vastly different from what it was a decade ago. We've rode the waves of pandemic and population boom and encountered both inflation and innovation. Through it all, the convictions on which we founded Marksmen GC remain the same. The belief in a better construction experience and a new standard for building.

To every owner, architect, engineer, and trade contractor–we vow to fight against volatility, to seek understanding in uncertainty, to provide clarity where there is complexity, and to remain adaptable in the face of ambiguity.

As we embark on our second decade we encourage you to embrace a new experience for construction.

Construction projects
are challenging. The
experience doesn't
have to be.

Construction projects can be daunting for any owner, especially churches and schools. Resources are finite and the process is often confusing for owners that don't live in construction. We are here to provide clarity to the process, leading and managing all aspects of your construction project with skill, integrity, and passion for building churches.

"From their involvement in the design phase to the final installation, Marksmen General Contractors demonstrated a high level of professionalism and expertise."

—Father Francis Uong Quang Luong, Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church

How we build

1

Plan

with

Precision

Planning starts with helping you clearly define your project goals and outlining how our team can help you achieve them.

2

Communicate

with

Clarity

We identify all the key players and make sure everyone is in the loop. Open lines of communication are key.

3

Execute

with

Excellence

Only once we've planned and communicated do we begin executing the project based on your goals.

Design-bid-build

Simple, but problematic. Design-Bid-Build is the oldest and simplest delivery method because of its linear approach. With Design-Bid-Build you hire an architect or design team who designs the project. Once the design is complete you bid the project out to a handful of contractors, pick the one you like, and they build your project.
Design-Bid-Build benefits from its linear approach, making it a simple step-by-step approach. The separation of roles allow each member of the team to focus on their  area of expertise. This also creates clear contractual relationships between the design team and the contractor. The goal is that a complete design will create clarity for the contractor.

CM At Risk

The happy middle-ground. You have a concept of your construction project and a budget, you even have an architect on board who has started design. At this point you are starting to feel like you are in over your head. The Construction Manager at Risk (CM at Risk) delivery method might be your solution.  CM at Risk involves a construction manager, typically the general contractor responsible for building the project. They serve as your trusted advisor throughout the entire project, from start to finish. The "at risk" part of CM at Risk refers to our responsibility for managing project risks like cost, and schedule.

Design-Build

Collaboration is key. So you have a construction project in mind. Maybe it's a renovation, expansion, new building, or an entire campus for your church. Maybe you have a budget in mind, maybe not. That's ok. With the Design-Build delivery method you can hire a single firm who will guide you through the entire project. Instead of separate design and construction teams, the Design-Build firm takes responsibility for both design and construction of your project. This sets you up for a streamlined experience with a single firm/contract.

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
-Colossians 3:17

We believe that Paul was emphasizing the importance of doing everything to the best of one's ability and with a spirit of gratitude and humility. We are Focused on Excellence, not only to achieve our personal and corporate goals, but also to honor God through our work. We recognize that our talents and abilities are gifts from God and we have a responsibility to use them to the best of our ability. This belief gives us a sense of purpose and meaning, we know that all of our efforts are ultimately in service to the Kingdom. Colossians 3:17 and our tagline reminds us that excellence isn't just about achieving great results but pursuing those results with the right attitude and intention.

Safety Snapshot

Associated Builders and Contractors: National Safety Excellence Merit Award.
One of only seven general contractors recognized at the national level for this award in 2023. The National Safety Excellence Merit Award recognizes companies that exhibit exceptional jobsite safety and safety performances and programs deemed exemplary by the ABC National Health & Safety Committee. To achieve such an honor meant a thorough review of our safety program through our STEP application, essay questions, and an interview with our President & CEO about our corporate safety culture.

.88

Experience Modifier Rate (EMR)

An experience modifier of less than one means we are better than industry average (1.00). You can equate this to lower workers compensation premiums, savings that we pass on to our clients.

0

Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)

As the number zero suggests, we have effectively implemented safety measures and protocols and created a culture of safety to send our people home everyday.

0

Days Away from work, Restricted work, or days of job Transfer

This is a specific metric used by OSHA to indicate the impact of workplace incidents.

Roadmap Ahead

We're standing at the edge of a new era - one marked by information, automation, and artificial intelligence. It's impossible to imagine how far and fast we'll go in the next decade. As our industry rushes forward, the design and construction experience gets murkier. Our mission, to redefine the construction experience, embodies our ambition towards excellence. We're committed to building with accuracy, clarity, and integrity.

Accuracy is our North Star. It guides us to meticulously measure every aspect of our projects for precision and correctness. Likewise, clarity is our guiding light. It reveals our path, providing transparency and understanding. Above all, integrity reigns supreme. We may not always be perfectly accurate or precisely clear, but when it comes to integrity, there’s no exception. It forms the bedrock of everything we do, grounding us in honesty, ethics, and moral fortitude.

So, let's set our sights on the next decade with courage and conviction. Let's dare to redefine the construction experience where accuracy, clarity, and integrity are the norm, not the exception. Together, we'll build a brighter tomorrow.

Sincerely,
Marksmen General Contractors, LLC
