A new interpretive center that showcases Bexar County's rich history, governance, and heritage, the site of the new center is located on the first floor of the historic Bexar County Courthouse downtown. The facility occupies 9,500 square feet which will include demolition of existing offices and vault; HVAC upgrades; lighting, exhibit walls, and new, high-end electrical. The concept for the exhibits is a series of highly articulated, multi-sensory dioramas, each providing several high-tech interactive and multimedia components as well as interpretive panels in order to provide simultaneous learning for many visitors at a time. Scope of work includes an information kiosk, an office for one staff person, storage, closet, and a break room/locker room. This project has to be constructed with a “just-in-time” approach due to minimal lay down and site access in downtown San Antonio. Noise control measures are utilized continuously due to the sensitive surrounding occupied court rooms during construction.
