Mark Baublit began working with his hands as a residential cabinet-maker in
high school, becoming the lead Detailer and Project Manager for a large
commercial millwork company while at college. After graduating from Texas
A&M University in 1997 with a degree in Construction Science, he moved to
San Antonio as a Project Engineer. Mark successfully built his career managing
large construction teams on over $550 million of commercial projects in both
public and private markets on numerous K-12 and higher educational facilities,
retail centers, churches, and office building projects. As a team leader, Mark
has constructed several high-profile projects in San Antonio, particularly the
complete rebuilds of both Roosevelt High School for North East ISD spanning a
period of six years at $73 million and the 5-year $55 million South San High
School Addition & Renovations at South San Antonio ISD.
In 2014, Mark took a leap of faith to follow his life-long dream of owning his own business. With wise council and encouragement from family, friends and business mentors, he and his business partner, Butch Dixon, established Marksmen General Contractors. As the point man and visionary of the Marksmen brand, Mark continues in his calling of influential mentorship to young construction professionals, pursues his God-given purpose through service and leadership in the construction industry, and fulfills his passion by handcrafting custom cabinetry with his father through Marksmen Millwork.
Zach Tschirhart began his construction career working as a refrigeration
and mechanical subcontractor where he acquired knowledge in technical
and complex MEP systems throughout high school and college. After
graduating from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2008, Zach
worked alongside our Owner Mark Baublit at a previous large construction
company. He quickly became an influential mentor and leader within the
San Antonio and Austin/College Station offices through his attention to
detail and execution of processes. Zach’s experience on over $240 million
commercial projects consist of $35 million for Bexar County Justice System
and Courtroom Restoration projects and $205 million Construction
Manager at Risk projects.
Zach provides our clients and projects with substantial strength and depth in knowledge of detailed work-progress scheduling, budgeting & forecasting, project team accountability and preconstruction services. Corporately, Zach manages our operational staff and maintains our corporate culture for employee work/life balance, something he is very passionate about and which aligns with our company vision.
Butch Dixon has worked in the banking industry for over 30 years. He
began his career as a teller while attending Schreiner University. Upon
graduation, he entered the officer training program at Chas. Schreiner
Bank with a focus on loan operations. His career in banking has provided
many challenges including the opening of a loan operations center for
Norwest Bank in San Antonio and the subsequent consolidation of over
40 purchased banks. He then served in several different capacities in
new and expanded bank service areas. His greatest achievement was in
his role in the opening of Bank of the Hills, a de novo bank, which quickly
became a premier community bank in Texas. As the head of Loan
Operations and IT, he played an integral role in the equipping and
opening of 4 new locations and several subsequent systems conversions
upon acquisition by Sterling Bank and then Comerica Bank. During the
startup years of Marksmen GC, Butch served as the HR Coordinator for
Arms of Hope. He gradually transitioned into a fulltime role as our
company began to grow.
As Vice President and CFO at Marksmen GC, Butch oversees accounting, risk management, and human resources. He implements and supervises all company accounting procedures and coordinates strategic financial planning and forecasting. Butch remains an active volunteer at Arms of Hope Medina Children’s Home and continues to faithfully serve his church congregation as an Elder.
